5 Common Fevers That Arrive During the Monsoon Season



Hey there, middle schoolers! Did you know that there are some fevers that are more common during the monsoon season? Yeah, it's true! These fevers can be really dangerous and make you feel pretty sick. Let's learn more about them!

So, the monsoon season is a relief after a hot summer, right? It cools things down and brings some fresh air. But here's the thing, during the monsoon season, there are a lot of diseases going around, and fever is one of them. You know how fever can make you feel sick and uncomfortable, right? Well, during the monsoon season, it's even more important to be aware of these fevers and take precautions. If you don't, they can become really dangerous.

Types of Fevers During Monsoon

Let's talk about some of the common fevers that happen during the monsoon season:

Malaria Fever

Malaria is a really dangerous disease that mosquitoes can give you. When a mosquito that's infected with a parasite bites you, you can get malaria. It's not good, trust me. If you have malaria, you might feel shivery, have a headache, and get really cold. Malaria can even cause low blood sugar, brain damage, and organ failure. Yikes!

Typhoid Fever

Typhoid fever happens when you eat or drink something that's contaminated with bacteria. It's not fun at all. If you have typhoid, you might have diarrhea, throw up, and feel really nauseous. It's important to treat typhoid early on to avoid it getting worse.

Chikungunya Fever

Chikungunya fever is another one that mosquitoes can give you. There's no vaccine for it yet, so it's important to protect yourself from mosquitoes. Stay away from them as much as you can to avoid getting chikungunya.

Dengue

Dengue is a really harmful infection caused by a virus that mosquitoes carry. If an infected mosquito bites you, you can get dengue. It's serious stuff, guys. High fever, rash, joint and muscle pain, and pain behind the eyes are some of the signs of dengue. If you have these symptoms, go see a doctor right away!

There's also another fever called leptospirosis that happens during the monsoon season. Plus, you might get other fevers like cold and flu. That's why it's super important to be careful during the rainy season. If you have a fever, it's important to find out what's causing it and get the right treatment. Luckily, there are tests available that can help with that.

Nowadays, there are many diagnostic centers that offer fever tests at a reasonable price. You can even get the test done at home!
